Certification Technical
Committee
The Certification Technical Committee is made up of specialists in makes, models and eras.
The Committee studies and assesses the documentation for each machine: this very comprehensive documentation and the attached information supplied by owners as proof of authenticity enable these specialists to establish the historic character and conformity of machines.
Analysis of the documentation
Information and documentation are received by the person in charge of the Certification Technical Committee.
The entire application is then sent to specialists in the relevant make and model but also relies on collectors, who must be able to provide tangible evidence of this history.
If the application is incomplete or if there are any questions, the commission may contact the owner.
The analysis of the documentations results in classifying the machines in one of the four categories defined for the FIM classification:
- Historique
- Originale
- Evocation
- Replica
This is the only procedure that can clearly establish the history of these machines by reviewing their results and identifying the motorcyclists who rode them where proof of this history exists.
The FIM collaborates with l’Amicale Spirit Of Speed, the largest racing motorcycle collectors' club, which is responsible for overseeing the certification process.
